Lebanese Festive Feasts at Comptoir Libanais

There is only one thing that can really bring down the festive season... the dire group lunch with work or friends. The budget is usually low, the menu usually safe (read bland) and the whole set group menu experience usually climaxes with a grey, cool puddle of dry turkey breast and reheated potatos. Well, the lovely people at Comptoir Libanais may just have saved Christmas with their new festive feast menus.

Comptoir Libanais have played entirely to their strengths by developing a measly priced (£22 or £29) menu to bring everyone together, without the forced fun. There's a delicious choice of two festive cocktails to start, before a full mezze spread to share with the table including favourites baba ghanoush and beetroot hummus. For a holiday twist there's Turkey Kibbeh - spiced turkey & cracked wheat parcel with pomegranate molasses and onions served with spiced orange blossom, but the real highlight of the menu is the Seabass Sayadieh - perfectly cooked in a tagine, the fish sits on top of a bed of spiced rice and it topped with pine nuts, crispy onions and tahini yoghurt.

There's not a refrigerated pre-plated ham hock terrine in sight.
